The current World No. 51, Potapova, has changed her nationality from Russia to Austria and will be competing under her new homeland from the 2026 season onwards. She also delivered impressive performances in her 2025 season, including the Linz Open and the Winners Open, where she reached the final round, and the French Open, where she advanced to the quarterfinal round in women’s doubles with Olga Danilović.
Potapova is the fourth Russian WTA player to change nationality in 2025. Kasatkina now competes for Australia, while Maria Timofeeva and Kamilla Rakhimova have both become citizens of Uzbekistan.
