DENVER (KDVR) — A Florida barbecue chain is closing its only Colorado location after 21 years in Centennial.
Bono Bar-BQ Commonly known around Jacksonville, Florida, with nearly 20 locations around the area. The restaurant has been serving barbecue since 1949, and in 2004, it came to Colorado and opened a place in Centennial.
The chain has been open in Centennial for more than 20 years, but on Saturday, Colorado’s only Bono’s Bar-BQ restaurant closed for good.
Sunday, Centennial Restaurant Announced that it would be closed On Saturday, November 1. The owners, Alex and Jessie Liesegang, told FOX31 they own the building and land, and are transitioning from restaurant operators to owner after the “investment has matured” and it’s time to relax.
“We have loved every steak, rib and smile we have shared over the years – you have all become like family to us,” the restaurant said in its Facebook post announcing the closure.
The owners said a new tenant will begin development almost immediately after it closes on Saturday, but in the meantime, the restaurant is hosting one last hurrah. The restaurant said that it will remain open until eight in the evening, and people can stop by to taste their favorite barbecue dishes and say goodbye.
“Thank you for 21 incredible years of support, laughter and memories. We couldn’t have done this without you,” the restaurant said.
