The NFL trade deadline is only a few days away, and many teams are calling around looking for help. The days leading up to the trade deadline are consistently among the most exciting, as fans of each team hope to acquire a player or two that might get them over the hump. All signs point to an active trade deadline, and one team that could be looking to improve is the Denver Broncos.
Denver Broncos Looking to Improve Roster
One area the Broncos may look to improve is tight end, which would give Evan Engram more opportunities as a receiver. According to Albert Breer and Sports Illustrated, the Broncos could look to acquire another tight end, such as Michael Mayer of the Las Vegas Raiders or David Njoku of the Cleveland Browns.
Breer said, “What do they need? I think the answer might be a traditional “Y” tight end, which would allow them to do more with Evan Engram. Who might that be? I would call the Raiders on Michael Mayer, though I think Vegas would hang up on the idea of dealing him in-division (they aren’t looking to trade him, period). And I think trying to pry David Njoku from the Browns would make sense, too.”

Njoku seems likely to be traded. The Browns are not going anywhere this season, and they have rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr., who has taken over much of Njoku’s role. Njoku is eligible to hit unrestricted free agency after this season. If the Browns have no interest in re-signing him, he should be traded.
PFSN’s NFL TE Impact grades him C with an impact score of 73.8. They are just bringing his popularity down if he is not playing, but taking up cap space. Njoku was the team’s 29th overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft, and sitting out does not really work. The Broncos are making a Super Bowl push this season, and Njoku will be a great addition.
Broncos Can Make a Super Bowl Push
This may be the year for the Broncos to go all-in. They have one of the best defenses in football, and the AFC is a weak conference. You could argue that the Broncos are one of the top-three teams in the conference.
Any help the Broncos can add to their roster will increase their chances of making a deep playoff run. Ultimately, the Broncos will have to prove they can beat the Kansas City Chiefs to reach their desired destination. The Chiefs have dominated the AFC West and the AFC in the conference for many years, and this could be the year they finally dethrone the Chiefs.
