'Yadadamean' Jacob Fatu didn’t wrestle in San Jose on WWE Friday Night Smackdown?

SAN JOSE, CA (KRONA) – Jacob Fatu, Bay Area native and WWE star “The Samoan Werewolf,” was scheduled to appear on Friday Night SmackDown Live at the SAP Center in San Jose on October 17, but ended up pulling out of the main event, leaving many fans out. Ending with Kor and Tor He spoke disappointed by the fakery.

At 2:33 PM on Friday, the popular Sacramento-born wrestler posted “SAN JOSE ITS UP TONIGHT NOR CAL 💯💯💯💯” on Channel X, still promoting his main event match with Drew McIntyre less than two hours before showtime.

Fans were eager to see how their hometown hero performed – and even as the show got underway, GM Nick Aldis continued to promote the bout, despite previous reports from PWInsider that it was canceled due to a real-life injury that was expected to sideline Fatu for an unknown amount of time.

Fatu ended up only appearing in two backstage segments and never made it to the ring. In his first match, he faced undisputed world champion Cody Rhodes, teasing a potential title bout on Saturday Night’s Main Event – while McIntyre remained ominously in the background. Later, as Fatu made his entrance and fans waited for his appearance, the cameras cut backstage to reveal him beaten and trapped under a steel frame, with blood pouring from his mouth and what appeared to be broken teeth scattered on the floor.

The Finish with Kor & Tor captivated fans before and after the show, capturing their volatile reactions in real time.

Here’s what they had to say:

“It’s bad, you know, he’s from the area, here in northern Cali. Sure everyone came out to see him, so that’s too bad. Oh kid from his hometown and you can’t even see him. It’s bad,” said Alessio of Hayward.

“Fatu’s injury was not a surprise. There were some leaks,” said Daniel from Palo Alto.

“I was crying for my money back when Jacob wouldn’t come to the ring,” said Cooney from San Francisco.

Fatu is no stranger to the Bay Area wrestling scene, having competed — and held championships — with West Coast Pro Wrestling. Scott Berganti, founder and owner of West Coast Pro, spoke about Fatu on a recent episode of The Finish, which you can watch in the video player above.

“You’ll see people on the West Coast show who will be on TV a few years later,” he said. “Jacob Fatu was our champion, and now he’s all over WWE. We had Lee Moriarty, Brian Keith, Daniel Garcia – a lot of guys that fans say were ‘adopted by the coast.'”

Fatu is a member of the legendary Anoa’i wrestling family, which includes his father The Tonga Kid, The Rock and Roman Reigns, San Francisco natives Jay and Jimmy Uso and their father, Hall of Famer Rikishi.
