Popular Nederland grocery store reopens after destructive fire

DENVER (KDVR) — The largest grocery store in Holland reopened Sunday, just a few days after a fire destroyed more than a dozen businesses at a downtown mall.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said B & F Mountain Market reopened Sunday In the village of Caribou after it was temporarily closed due to the fire. The grocery store, also known as B&F Market or Ned Market, is one of the few stores in the mountain town.

It comes after a fire broke out Thursday morning, forcing the evacuation of nearby residents and destroying more than a dozen businesses, including a yoga studio, a winery, a brewery, a doctor’s office and a small police substation.

The grocery store is located in the same parking lot as the shopping center and was closed after the fire. FOX31’s Jim Holley reported that the market was not damaged by the fire, but did sustain some damage. It was initially not accessible to the public because it was part of the investigation, however, it was able to reopen on Sunday after fire officials deemed it safe to reopen.

While the store was closed, many residents had to travel to Boulder to shop for their essentials, Holley reported.

The Sheriff’s Office also said in the announcement that they will share updates later this week when they have more information, but investigators are still doing their work. At this time, it is unclear what caused the fire.
