Denver weather: Cooler start to the workweek

DENVER (KDVR) — The cooling trend in weather continues in Denver to start the work week.

Tonight’s weather: partly cloudy

Sunday night will be partly cloudy and cold.

Low temperatures will drop to the 40s in the metro and the 30s in the northern and eastern regions.

With temperatures dropping into the 30s in parts of Weld and Larimer counties, it will be cold enough for frost to settle in, so remember to bring in or cover any sensitive plants. For this reason, frost warnings will be in effect tonight and into the morning.

Weather tomorrow: breezy, cool

Cloud cover will increase on Monday with breezes gusting up to 30-40 mph. Temperatures will be much cooler and will only reach the low 60s.

LOOKING AHEAD: The weather will be warmer mid-week before the rains arrive

Sunshine will return Tuesday and Wednesday, helping with the warming trend. High temperatures are expected to reach the lower 70s on Tuesday, then the upper 70s on Wednesday, which is about 10 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.

While the start of the week will be dry in the metro, rain will fall again Monday through Tuesday in southwestern Colorado and spread into the mountains. For this reason, a flood watch will remain in effect Monday through at least Tuesday morning.

On Wednesday night, a cold front will move in. This will bring high temperatures to seasonal levels on Thursday, along with the chance of some rain. This cooler seasonal pattern will continue on Friday and through the upcoming weekend.
