When your mom posts a heartfelt prayer for your healing on social media, most people might feel touched. Justin Bieber, however, decided to keep things light with a response that’s raising eyebrows across the internet.
The situation started back on September 22, when Pattie Mallette took to Instagram to share a series of photos of her famous son, including one where he wore a shirt with “Pray For Me” written on the back. The caption accompanying the photos was anything but casual.
“We’re cheering you on and praying for you always Justin,” Mallette wrote, before launching into a lengthy prayer. “I declare freedom, strength, clarity, and healing over you Justin. Every chain of fear, confusion, heaviness, and pain—be broken in Jesus’ name.”

The mom didn’t stop there, adding that she wanted the Holy Spirit to “surround him with TRUTH, LIGHT, and PROTECTION” and “HEAL EVERY WOUND in his heart, mind and body, seen and unseen, restore what’s been stolen, and cover him in WHOLENESS.” She ended the emotional post by asking her followers to “Say amen if you agree.”
While many of Mallette’s followers joined her in prayer, her son apparently had other ideas. Weeks later, on October 5, Justin Bieber finally dropped a comment on his mom’s post that was decidedly less spiritual in nature: “Only thing I need healing from is my rolled pinky toe from playing ping pong.”

The blunt response has sparked mixed reactions online. Some fans viewed Justin’s comment as him taking a swipe at his mother’s public concern, while others appreciated his attempt to lighten the mood and shut down speculation about his well-being.
The timing of Mallette’s post is notable, coming just three days after Bieber shared his own thoughts on spirituality and fame through a conversation with ChatGPT, where he discussed how Jesus teaches that human effort is simply a response to being gifted life and forgiveness.

It remains unclear what specifically prompted Mallette’s emotional prayer for her son, though Justin Bieber has been making waves with his recent musical comeback. The singer, who shares 13-month-old son Jack Blues with wife Hailey Bieber, was recently announced as one of the 2026 Coachella headliners.
Whether the ping pong injury comment was genuine humor or a gentle pushback against public concern, one thing’s clear: Justin Bieber isn’t afraid to keep things real, even when it comes to his mom’s Instagram prayers.
