The moment was monumental for the team as well as head coach Liam Coen’s wife, Ashley Coen, who celebrated her birthday the same night.
Ashley’s Emotional Reaction to Trevor Lawrence’s Game-Winning Touchdown
In a carousel of photos posted to her Instagram, Ashley captured the joy and disbelief of the last-minute comeback that sealed their first win over Kansas City since 2009. She offered glimpses from sideline shots with her husband to moments of celebration with friends and fellow Jaguars supporters.
Ashley was blowing out candles, posing, cutting a pink birthday cake, and cheering the team on from the sidelines. A few pictures also showcased her posing alongside her husband, Liam.
“Victory Tuesday! My birthday wish came true! What an incredible win last night,” she wrote. “My hands were literally shaking after Trevor’s TD. Driving home with Liam after the game, I kept repeating, ‘I can’t believe we won and beat the Chiefs!’ I mean, I CAN, but you know what I mean!”
Her gratitude shone through her post as she continued writing, “Our players, coaches, and staff have put their hearts and souls into this year, and it shows. DUUUVAL — or should I say DUVaAAAAAL?!!”
Ashley’s post quickly resonated with fans who felt the same surge of adrenaline watching Lawrence’s heroic final drive. The 26-year-old QB, celebrating his birthday, pulled off one of the season’s most memorable plays, tripping over before recovering, scrambling for a one-yard score, and diving into the end zone with just 23 seconds left on the clock. Lawrence completed 18 of 25 passes for 221 yards, three total touchdowns, and one interception.
The play secured Jacksonville’s third straight win, moving to 4-1, and Lawrence’s heroics and athleticism drew praise from across the league, especially his coach, who lauded the quarterback’s determination and calm under pressure. “He got stepped on, and he’s coming out of it, and you’re like, ‘Oh, my gosh, throw it away so we can have another down.’ Man, what an individual effort. Obviously tough moment where I can only imagine where he was at in that moment on the ground,” Coen said.
“But to get up, break, what, three tackles or whatever it was, two tackles, and shed some dude off and go run it in the [end zone], that’s an unbelievable individual effort…but at the end of the day, it’s about winning, and I’m proud of the toughness that he showed at the end of that game,” he added.
The victory also drew a strong reaction from Trevor’s wife, Marissa, who was in the stands cheering him on with thousands of fans. She later posted a story of herself standing on the table to catch the play in her leopard-print shorts, captioning it, “Jags Win. I had to make sure I could see!”
With momentum building and team morale at an all-time high, the Jaguars now look ahead to their next challenge against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6.
