The province of El Basso, Colorado (KDVR) – two farmers in El Passo Province works to rehabilitate a herd of alpaka after animals were delivered by their former owners.
Farmers say the albaka is suffering from severe weight loss and needs great care to survive in the next winter.
Betzy VantilBorg, a local leader and Alpaka lover, could not say no when a friend asked whether she would take some albuk in need of a house.
She says that the former owners of the 10 -herd inherited Albakh at their home, and she says they did the right thing by giving up them, because animals need serious care.
“They only need to verify and ensure that she is in good health enough to survive in the winter,” said Vantelburg.
Vantilborg took five animals, three females and two children. She says children are about half of the weight they should be in three months. All the five albums were wrapped on Monday because it says it lacks fat in the body to stay warm overnight.
“It is a huge task to put weight on females in females during the winter,” said Vantleburg.
The other five alpaks were taken by Seth Cook, which has experience in saving animals on his small farm.
“I am concerned that they will not reach the winter,” Cook said. “So, staying on his head so that they do not have to struggle while they are doing so, while they are trying to wake up, loss and correct weight.”
Cook and Vantelburg said that the albuk will require veterinary care, testing and a special diet, all of which come at a high cost.
“It seems that it was the right thing to do,” Cook said. “It was a very unfortunate situation as they needed to be in a new place and a new home.”
