The real reason Jennifer Lopez is thankful for her Ben Affleck divorce

It’s been a minute since the final paperwork was signed, but Jennifer Lopez is finally getting super honest about her recent divorce from Ben Affleck, revealing a surprising silver lining. In a recent interview, the pop icon didn’t mince words, declaring that the split ended up being the “best thing” that could have happened to her.

The news might raise an eyebrow or two, considering the whirlwind romance and highly publicized second chance for “Bennifer.” However, J.Lo explained that the emotional turmoil sparked some necessary personal development. “Because it changed me. It helped me grow in a way that I needed to grow,” she shared. This candid statement comes as the 56-year-old superstar promotes her new musical project, Kiss of the Spider Woman, on which Affleck even serves as an executive producer.

The singer and actress confessed that balancing her professional life with the end of her marriage was incredibly difficult. “It was a really tough time,” Lopez recalled, admitting that while every moment on set was happy, the situation back home “was not great.” This dichotomy forced her to really dig deep and ask herself, “How do I work inside of this?”

Eventually, she found the strength she needed. The journey through the separation, therefore, became a catalyst for self-discovery and a new sense of peace. Lopez insists that the experience has helped her become more self-aware. She’s definitely not the same person she was a year or two ago, having truly stepped into a new phase of life.

The mother of two reflected on the feeling of coming out the other side. She’s “stronger, wiser,” and completely focused on her own happiness. The new perspective is clear: she’s realized she doesn’t need anyone to “make” her happy; the inner joy has to be there first. It seems the dissolution of her marriage to Ben Affleck gave Jennifer Lopez the ultimate push toward prioritizing her own well-being.
