Lovland, Colorado – Malcolos of a long bakery in the center of Lovlands said they are at risk of closing due to the constant construction that slowed traffic and clients’ fear.
Dana Brongradt, co -owner of B Sweet CuPCakes, said that traffic on the fourth street has decreased significantly since the city began a major infrastructure project in February. The construction also took all the parking lots in the streets in front of the store.
“We are lucky to see two or three customers a day,” said BRUNGARDT.
She and her mother were spending cakes in the center of Loving City for 15 years. Their work depends greatly on walking from the people who explore the area, something said BRUNGARDT has become rare since the construction began.
The city erupted in a multi -year -old city improvement project in February. Officials said it is necessary to replace the 100 -year -old water and sewage lines, in addition to updating sidewalks and streets to make the city center easier and business friendly.
City officials said that other companies in the city center “successfully followed the project, and that the concerns that were expressed in this case do not reflect the broader experience in the city center.”
But for the sweet B cakes, BRUNGARDT said that the effect was harsh, and sales on sales decreased by 40 %
“Some customers have called and say,” We are here. How do we get to you? “We are trying to give them directions as much as we can, but we have these people – they never reach the door.”
Despite signs all over the region, customers confirm that companies are still open, BRUNGARDT is concerned that their store may not escape turmoil.
She said: “By the time this project ends, we will be in the hole and try to get ourselves as we go to a slow season.”
But she will not dig alone. Willow and Finch, a boutique, pledged a few buildings away, to donate 10 % of its sales on Sunday afternoon to B Sweet CuPCakes.
“We know how difficult it is to stay at work and feel it,” said Becky Fair, co -owner of Willow and Finch. “It takes a village to support each other.”
City officials said the current stage of construction, from Washington to Lincoln’s roads, is expected to conclude in November. After that, work will continue on three additional blocks from the fourth street. The entire project is expected to be completed in November 2026.
