Man allegedly threatening people with machete shot dead by Sheridan police

KDVR – The Sheridan Police Administration said a man threatening people with a sickle on the bike path in Sheridan died by the police on Thursday.

SPD said that he sent the officers to the South Clay Street and north Drive at 6:15 pm, after receiving several reports on a man walking along the path of Bir Kreik bike with a sickle. The police said that two of the callers reported that they were threatened with a sickle.

The respondent officers found a man carrying a sickle and faced, which made him “numerous” orders to bring down the weapon, which he ignored, according to the police.

SPD said, instead of dropping the sickle, “continued to advance” over the officers, causing them to retreat while continuing to order the suspect to stop and drop the weapon.

Both officers ultimately published “less deadly devices” when the man continued to ignore their orders, according to the police, who said this “proved that he was inaccurate”, and led to the arms officers “to be subjected to the suspect.”

The police said that the suspect was detained and medical assistance until the paramedics arrived, before he was transferred to the Swedish Medical Center, where he announced his death.

This incident is being investigated by the eighteenth judicial response team in the judicial province, SPD, who said that the suspect will be identified by the Arabaho County Office.

The police said that the officers involved in the accident were placed on an administrative leave, “as it is a protocol.”
