Austin – Austin police have arrested a suspect in relation to a child who was found deserted inside Sambster, north of Austin, on Saturday.

APD will hold a press conference at 11:30 am on Thursday to provide more details about detention. KXan will have the live broadcast in this article.

On Saturday, Austin Police said that the child was found safe in the 8600 mass of North Lamar Boulevard at approximately 1:36 pm without health problems at that time. The police said the child was transferred to the Del Medical Center for Children and was placed in child protection services.

According to the KXAN report, Texas lawmakers acknowledged the safe haven law in 1999, giving parents unable to care for their child an option to leave them unresolved in hospitals, firefighters, or EMS stations without consequences.

A safe haven law in Texas was seized in 2023 to include children’s boxes, which are secured, temperature regulatory boxes are connected to a safe site such as fire, EMS, police station or hospital.

KXan reported that there are many children’s boxes in Texas, but there is nothing in Austin.

The Texas Ministry of Family and Protection said that there are 11 safe haven that surrender so far this year. There was 14 in 2024.
