SF Supe Engardio concedes following early results in recall

(BCN) – San Francisco supervisor Joel Ingardio appears to have been summoned from his position and before the defeat after the early revenues in the special elections came on Tuesday, which only included voters in the province 4 on the western side of the city.

Initial results from more than 15,000 voting in the stage that was received before election day and more than 1,000 voting in the voting places on election day showed that approximately 65 % of the provincial voters 4 supported the summons, which only requires a simple majority.

The following updated results are expected to be issued on Thursday at 4 pm and the election results will be approved by October 16, according to the Ministry of Elections in the city. After the accredited summons, Mayor Daniel Lori will appoint a temporary supervisor until the next destined elections in June 2026.

“My time will be a shorter supervisor than expected. I accept the election results. But we can still celebrate. We are on the right side of history,” he wrote on Tuesday night.

The efforts to summon Engardio focused on closing the great highway along the western edge of the city to private cars, a permanent step with the passage of the K.

Engardio Prop K led, despite the results showed by the November elections are the majority of voters in his region who oppose them.

The plans to organize a summons campaign began immediately after the PROP K, with the defectors argued that Engardio did not listen to the preferences of the majority of his region or consult with his voters before formulating this procedure.

Engardio has been determined that talks about what to do with the Great Highway has continued since he took office in 2022. He also argued that PROP K in the poll gave voters the power to determine the future of the Great Highway instead of the Council of Supervisors who decided.

In his post on social media on Tuesday night, Englo treated the issue of changing the highway to a garden.

He wrote: “The sunset is a success. It is a good thing for the environment, good for our local economy, and makes joy for people of all ages. Carmagedon did not come.”

At a surveillance ceremony for the summons campaign organizers, the crowds chanted excitement and relief as soon as the early results reached.

Richard Korea, who led the efforts to organize the summons, gave a speech to hundreds of packed people at Celia Restaurant at Al -Shati Restaurant in the external sunset neighborhood.

“Joel Ingardio, we send a message to the city hall that the western side matters,” he shouted.
Lori was buried on the preliminary results on Tuesday, and he thanked Ingardio for his work in the Supervisors Council, but he also recognized the feelings of the District Residents 4.

“I would like to thank all the residents of the fourth province, who made their votes heard and participated in the special elections today,” he said in a statement. “While I was a campaign for the mayor last year, I heard countless West Side families say what San Franciscan was feeling for years: that their government is doing things for them, not with them, and that the government is not working to make their lives better.”

“Since the votes are still calculated and the elections will be adopted in the coming weeks, our team will evaluate the steps following for the fourth boycott seat,” Lori said.
