NFL Insider Raises Major Red Flag on Tom Brady After Legendary QB’s Involvement With Raiders OC Gets Revealed

NFL legend Tom Brady is in attendance for Monday Night Football as his Las Vegas Raiders take on the Los Angeles Chargers. Brady is a minority owner of the Raiders and is sitting in the coaches’ box for the game. He’s a football mind that teams want on their side, and not the other side. The Raiders have that luxury and are making sure to utilize Brady as a resource.

Brady serves as an announcer for FOX, though, which has raised concerns of a potential conflict of interest.

Tom Brady’s Involvement with the Raiders

Brady is involved in the weekly preparation for the Raiders as he meets with OC Chip Kelly to discuss game planning and go over film. Here’s Brady in the coaches box on game day.

Brady gets information from other teams and their players when preparing to call a game on FOX’s broadcast. NFL insider James Palmer detailed the conflict of interest with the extent of his involvement.

“Tom Brady meets with Chip Kelly 2-3 times a week to go over film and go through the game plan,” said Palmer. “And every weekend Brady is calling a game for Fox, gathering as much information as possible from players and coaches from both teams to be at his best in the broadcast booth. Got it.”

The NFL world isn’t convinced that this is fair to the other teams to have Brady calling games while being an active participant in the Raiders organization. It’s a waiting game to see what the NFL does, but it’s an issue to be addressed.

Brady can get important information when consulting with teams and players whose game he is set to call. His broadcasting schedule makes it tough to avoid looking at this situation. He just called a game against the Raiders’ opponent next week, and this could be the case in the future, as well. Teams could now be hesitant to give information that they might have given to other broadcasters if Brady is calling their game.

“So, arguably the most competitive man in the history of football will be on the Cowboys @ Bears call in Week 3. He’ll be in production meetings Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams.Who do the Bears play in Week 4? The Raiders,” Ruthie Polinsky of the Chicago Sports Network pointed out.

The optics don’t look good in this situation. Brady being in production meetings with his team’s following opponent complicates his broadcasting abilities as both Johnson and Williams will be walking a tightrope on what they can reveal. Other fans have joined in on the suggestion of not telling Brady anything in his production meetings with them.

“Yeah, I probably wouldn’t give him any info if I was a coach and he was calling my team’s game on TV,” said Barstool’s Eric Sollenberger.

The situation will continue to develop in the coming days, and the NFL has to find a solution. Brady giving the Raiders a leg up on the competition threatens the integrity of the league. The solution remains unclear, but one needs to be reached before this potentially spirals into a much bigger deal.
