BART reaches $6.75M settlement with woman shot in the back by officer at Union City station

SANA Francisco (Kron) – Bay Area Rapid Transit reached a settlement of $ 6.75 million with a woman who was shot at the back by Bart Port officer in Union City last November. Bart said on Friday that Yasmine Gao, 33, had a flat and rosary settlement with the transportation agency on June 19.

On November 18, 2024, Bart PD officers on November 18, 2024 responded to a report on a cake. Gao was cleared of this possible crime when the officers noticed that its tires were cold.

Then the officers decided that the registration of the GAO vehicle seemed to be expired. When she went out, I opened a PD PD Nicholas Pollett fire and was shot in the back.

About 12 hours later, Bartin Franklin police chief said that, based on an initial investigation, Gao had assaulted a police officer, “Bart Port officials initially claimed that Qaw had dragged the officers with her car while driving away.

A later review revealed the body’s camera shots that Gao did not attack the officers, and no one was dragging, and he was driving his car when he was shot. Bart also admitted that a lending officer had not been dragged or brought up by driving away.

After an administrative investigation, Bart said that Bolutt had been terminated.

According to Gao’s lawyer, Ben Nispanum, “Mrs. Gao was severely injured due to the shooting of the police, which was an unreasonable amount to register the vehicles that have expired recently, as California law prevented the police from taking any law enforcement against them.”

“Gao was shot at the back, the bullet passed between her heart and a large artery. She almost died. She was transferred to the hospital and has no full movement in her left arm.”

“Mrs. Gao and her family recognize the importance of resolving this case urgently without a lawsuit,” Nespanum continued. “Acceptance of accountability by Bart and President Franklin is one of the important factors in the settlement.”

“Our priority is the confidence of the audience,” said Alicia Trus, the head of the Bart’s communications head, said. “We immediately put Nicholas Polutt on vacation awaiting an independent investigation. Mrs. Gao’s lawyers shared a lawsuit to work early, bringing the closure to Mrs. Gao and her family while avoiding years of litigation.”
