Longhorns grind to 27-10 win over UTEP amid offensive struggles

Austin (KXAN)-Despite the result, the Texas crime for consistency has struggled with a 27-10 victory over UTEP on Saturday at the DKR-TEXAS Memorial Stadium.

When entering the game as a favorite of 41.5 points, Longhorns led 14-3 at the end of the first half and could not get anything in the scrolling game. Arch Manning 11 of 25 passes for 114 yards, landing, and objection. The result was late in the match with a pass from 4 yards to Ryan Wingo to give Longhorns its last drop.

“We were unable to find the rhythm in the traffic game the way we would like to want,” said Steve Sarkissian, coach of the Longhorns team. “We were unable to create explosive plays. The third relegation did not turn on the application and the fourth landing, and the wind was removed from our sails and outside the stadium.”

It was a difficult day for Manning, even after three declining with a pair of accelerating grades. The mobilization of the house, which chanted last season with the highest voice when he entered a match, was screaming after an incomplete consecutive in the first half as he struggled to strike open receptions. Three of the first four Texas engines either ended on landing or with objection.

The average Texas reached 4.2 yards per play. The average UTEP reached 4.4 yards per play.

“We have lost opportunities, completely frankly, early in the game that could have changed the skin,” said Sarkissian. “From there, we started pressing after that. We had to change the gears.”

Manning’s objection to Longhorns came in the red area. He set out from the pocket, then had to evade Utep rush before returning through his body to throw the ball. It ended up moving directly to the safety of the Utep Xavier Smith, which was treated on his team’s 5 -yogurt line after a short return.

The bright offensive point was a real student running James Simon. His first burning orange ended with 67 yards over 17 loads, and Jerik Gibson cut 64 yards over 18 loads. Already below the Quintrevion Wisner with a leg injury, the back longhorns got another blow when CJ Baxter stumbles from the stadium after the first play of the game. He got six yards in the range, but he did not return to the game.

After the match, Sarkissian said that Paxter hurts the tendons of the knee, but he does not know the time it could be outside.

“It was bad enough today we needed to close it today,” he said.

Through three games this season, longhorns still does not have a rapid fall of running. Manning has all the team’s degrees on the ground.

Play the Texas defense well, all the things that were considered. Both Jellyi McDonald and Graceson Littleton had objections, and out of Smith tea in a yard close to the end of the game, Longhorns kept mines workers on their aftermath. The midfielder at Utep Malachi Nelson, a former 5 -star recruiter outside high school in his third program, has completed 24 of 36 passes for 209 yards with two objections.

Longhorns signed miners to 50 hasty yards and 2.2 yards per rush. UTEP 0 was 3 in the fourth plays down and 4 against 13 in third place. Linabacker Liona Lefau led Texas with seven treatments, including one for a loss. McDonald and Michael Tafi have achieved six games, as both the hero Kano and Zina Omuzolu scored a bag.

Sarkissian said his team is “not a final producer”, and the search for consistency continues from all stages of the game.

“We have really good performances,” he said. “We have to find a level of consistency on the attack with all 11 players after a decline. This is the standard here, and we do not lead to the standard that we are used to.”

The penalties were again a problem for Longhorns, where seven times were marked versus 81 yards.

Texas (2-1) hosts Sam Houston on September 20 in his last match other than a conference. Utep (1-2) hosts Louisiana Monroe on September 20 as well.
