Tuesday is a very popular day for teams to bring in free agents to work, and the Bucs worked out a pair of undrafted free agents in offensive tackle Spencer Brown and safety Hudson Clark. NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported the news on X account on Tuesday. If signed, either player would be on the practice squad rather than the active roster.
Brown, who played at Oklahoma and Michigan State, was originally supposed to attend the Bucs rookie mini-camp back in May, but was still recovering from a calf injury. Hudson, who played at Arkansas, is a versatile defensive back with good size at 6-foot-2, and a knack for making plays on the ball, evidenced by his 24 pass breakups, six interceptions, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles for the Razorbacks defense.
The Bucs currently have four offensive tackles on the active roster with Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke, Charlie Heck and Ben Chukwuma and four others on the practice squad capable of playing tackle in Michael Jordan, Luke Haggard, Tyler McLellan and Lorenz Metz. Tampa Bay kept five safeties on their active roster in Antoine Winfield Jr., Tykee Smith, Christian Izien, Kaevon Merriweather and Rashad Wisdom. The team currently has newcomer Jack Henderson on the practice squad.
More On The 2 Players The Bucs Worked Out On Tuesday
Spencer Brown, a 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive tackle, began his college career at Michigan State in 2019 as a redshirt. He made his collegiate debut in 2020, appearing briefly against Ohio State. By 2021, he earned his first start – in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against No. 12 Pittsburgh – playing all 89 snaps. Over the next two seasons, he steadily grew into a reliable fixture on the Spartans’ line.
In 2022, he started all 12 games at right tackle, logging 783 snaps – the second most among offensive linemen. In 2023, he again started 11 games (nine at right and two at left tackle), totaling 541 snaps and posting an 82.2 pass-block grade at Indiana that led the starting line.
Following his redshirt-senior season, Brown entered the transfer portal and on December 6, 2023, committed to Oklahoma, becoming the first portal addition for the Sooners’ 2024 class. In 2024 at Oklahoma, he appeared in all 13 games and made starts in the final five, including against Alabama and in the Armed Forces Bowl, bringing veteran experience to a young O-line.

Hudson Clark was a walk-on who become a leader on the Razorbacks defense due to his grit, intelligence, and versatility. Arriving in Fayetteville in 2019 as a true freshman, Clark didn’t see action, yet just a year later, he burst onto the scene by intercepting three passes in just his second collegiate start against Ole Miss. That performance earned him a scholarship and SEC Freshman of the Week honors.
Over the next seasons, he steadily built his resume. In 2021, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Clark played in 12 games (four starts) and compiled 22 tackles. The following year, as a redshirt junior, he started 10 games, notched career-high 67 tackles, earned First-Team All-SEC from USA Today, and picked up SEC Defensive Player of the Week for his standout game at BYU (11 tackles, interception, fumble recovery).
In 2023, Clark was a full-time fixture in the secondary with 51 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one interception, four pass breakups, and a fumble recovery, all while earning First-Team Academic All-America honors and becoming a Campbell Trophy semifinalist. Known for his positional flexibility, playing safety, corner, and nickelback, he consistently served as a defensive field general and team culture leader.
