CANDIACE DILLARD BASSETT UPDATES FANS ON LIFE WITH 10-MONTH-OLD SON, JET

The Real Housewives of Potomac alum recently gave fans a peek into life with her and husband Chris Bassett’s 10-month-old son, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett. In a set of Instagram stories, Candiace caught Jett mid-mission, attempting to tear away at his own diaper. Over one post she simply wrote, “Bruh,” perfectly summing up the universal mom-versus-baby struggle.

But if Jett thought his determination to go diaper-free would wear her down, it didn’t. Dillard Bassett shared another post of her curly-haired little one sitting on the wooden floor in a tee covered with tiny animal prints, Candiace added, “We still doing this. Lol.”

As funny as these daily adventures are, Candiace has also been open about sharing the harder side of motherhood with fans. Just two days after Jett’s birth in October 2024, she faced terrifying complications.

“Honestly, I felt like, ‘Could I die?’ That was my greatest fear. If I die, he will never know his mom,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I would lay in the bed in pain holding him (Jett) and cry… I had a blood clot in my ovary that was causing me a lot of pain. I had to be on blood thinners for eight-10 weeks. It was scary. It was really intense and too much reality. I just wanted to have a baby.”

The new mom admitted that in those early weeks, she had to learn the hard way to check in with herself. “You’re in such a mom cloud you don’t think about your own health, but you have to remember to check in with your body and listen to your body because you just never know.”

Through it all, Chris Bassett has been her steady teammate. In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Candiace gushed that her husband of seven years stepped seamlessly into his role as a father.

“[Chris], literally, is like, ‘Give me the baby. We’re going over here… The bottles are gonna be made like this. We’re gonna wash them like that.’ He buys him toys and diapers. He’s in charge of formula. He has designated his task. He’s like an army soldier. He knew exactly what to do.”

Between the sleepless nights, diaper battles, and scary health hurdles, Candiace is finding her rhythm as a first-time mom and even juggling her growing career. She just landed a role in Dennis Williams’ I’ve Cried the Blues, all while sharing snippets of the nursery of her dreams and the little boy who has completely changed her world.
