A 27 -year -old man from Downey was arrested on federal charges of possessing pornography for children after the authorities linked him to an online network of violent extremists, according to court records.
The Ministry of Justice said that Dong Hwan Kim was held on Wednesday at his home by members of the joint terrorist work squad at the FBI. He was charged with a criminal complaint submitted to the US District Court in Los Angeles, and is expected to appear before the court on Friday.
The complaint claims that Kim has adopted many underage girls to produce sexually sexual images and videos between 2022 and the present. Prosecutors say that Kim threatened to expose the materials to family members and others if the victims refuse to provide additional photos.
Investigators believe that Kim was active in an extremist group known as “764”, which the FBI describes as a network of violent nihilistic extremists. Group members are allegedly involved in criminal activity, including the sexual exploitation of children.
According to the Federal Investigation Office, nihilist extremists often target weak people, especially the palace, using social media platforms to exchange explicit images, graphic violence and other annoying materials. Al -Shakawi says that victims may be under pressure in self -harm, animal abuse or sexual exploitation.
Court documents claim that Kim was not only limited to an explicit content request from minors, but also participated in sexual assault materials with others.
In one case, he was claimed to boast his actions, and described himself as “OG” after another user praised him. The agents said they have recovered many explicit photos and videos while searching for his home.
The complaint also includes data from a minor who said that Kim runs an online server as children’s pornography has been created, shared and traded. It was claimed that the victims were forced to degrading acts, including self -distortion and sexual exploitation, according to public prosecutors.
Kim is known to have used borrowed online names such as “Ryzen” and “Lobster”. The FBI believes that there may be additional victims that have not been identified and urged anyone with information to contact the number 1-800-Call-FBI.
If convicted, Kim faces the maximum of 20 years in the federal prison.
