Ben Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, recently expressed her support for him ahead of the 2025 US Open. Rodman is a professional soccer player who plays as a forward for the United States national team and the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The couple publicly confirmed their relationship in March 2025.
Shelton’s best result at the New York Major came in 2023 when he reached the semifinals before falling to eventual champion Novak Djokovic. Last year, the World No. 6 overcame Dominic Thiem and Roberto Bautista Agut in the first two rounds, before being eliminated by fellow American Frances Tiafoe in the third round.

In the lead-up to the 2025 US Open, Shelton competed in three hard-court tournaments: the Citi DC Open, the Canadian Open, and the Cincinnati Open.
The 22-year-old had a strong showing in all three events, winning the title in Toronto by defeating Karen Khachanov, making a semifinal run in Washington, D.C., where he lost to eventual runner-up Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, and reaching the quarterfinals in Cincinnati before falling to Alexander Zverev.
Before starting his singles campaign at the 2025 US Open, Shelton shared a picture of himself on social media, stating that he was “ready” for his home Grand Slam tournament.
“Ready,” Shelton captioned his Instagram post.
In response, Rodman re-shared the World No.6’s post on her social media and also commented on it.

In addition to his singles matches, Shelton also participated in the mixed doubles event at the 2025 US Open, teaming up with Taylor Townsend. They received a wildcard entry into the main draw and defeated the fourth-seeded team of Amanda Anisimova and Holger Rune in the first round with a score of 4-2, 5-4(2).
However, they were eliminated in the quarterfinals, losing to the American duo of Danielle Collins and Christian Harrison with a score of 4-1, 5-4(2).

Buse secured his place in the main draw of the 2025 US Open by defeating Lukas Neumayer, Rei Sakamoto, and Kimmer Coppejans in the qualifying rounds.
Shelton and Buse have never played against each other on the ATP Tour. Their upcoming first-round match at the 2025 US Open will mark the first time these two players will face off. The winner of this match will advance to meet either Pablo Carreño Busta or qualifier Pablo Llamas Ruiz in the second round.
