New York (AP)-Federal car safety organizers have been investigating the reason for Tesla repeatedly demanding them to inform them quickly about accidents that involve self-driving technology, a potentially important development due to the company’s plans to put hundreds of thousands of cars without driver on American roads during the next year.
The National Road Traffic Safety Administration said in a file on Thursday that Tesla reports on “numerous” incidents involve the driver’s assistance and self-driving features were presented after several months-after several months of accidents instead of five days as required.
The investigation comes two months after the electric car maker began by Elon Musk, the self -driving taxi service in Austin, Texas, in the hope of providing it soon worldwide. The company also hopes to send on the air updates to millions of Teslas on the road that allows them to drive themselves.
Investors have kept excited for such plans, Tesla contributed despite the sinking of sales and profits due to the boycott over Musk’s support for US President Donald Trump and right -wing extremist politicians in Europe.
The Safety Agency said that the investigation will focus on the reason that took a long time to report the incidents, and whether the reports included all the necessary data and details, and if there are incidents the agency still does not know.
Tesla did not respond to a request for comment, but the agency noticed that the company told her that the delays “due to a problem in collecting Tesla data”, which Tesla says was now repaired.
The new investigation follows another investigation that began in October in possible problems with the technique of self -driving in Tesla in fog weather and other low vision conditions, which led to several accidents, including one death. This investigation involves 2.5 million Tesla vehicles.
Tesla arrow fell about 1 % in midday on Thursday to $ 321.
