Gifford Fire grows to over 65,000 acres on California’s Central Coast

The Gifford fire continued to burn the two in the Central Coast area in California, prompting expanded evacuation orders and closing roads like Blaze has grown to more than 65,000 acres.

Fire It caught on Friday afternoon Northeast Santa Maria in the Los Badris National Forest, there is only 3 %. At least three people were injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Officials issued eviction orders to:

  • South of Highway 166, east of Al -House School, and west
  • South Highway 166, east of Cottonwood Canyon Road, and west of House Road Road
  • Upper Tepusquet Canyon, South Highway 166
  • South Highway 166, east of Willo Springs Trailhid, and west of the Kotonwood Canyon road

The evacuation warnings were issued to the following areas:

  • South of the 166th Highway, east of Alysu Canyon, and west of Berkins Road
  • Lower tepusquet canyon, north of the Siskok River

The authorities have confirmed that residents who need additional time to evacuate – including those who suffer from disabilities or those who have animals – should leave immediately.

The highway is still 166 closed between the 101st highway and the southern connection of the 33rd highway. Traveling in the area is limited to evacuation purposes only.

Temporary evacuation points and community resource centers

Two temporary points of evacuation and community information centers were created for residents affected by GifFord:

  • Benjamin Foxen Primary School4949 Foxsen Canyon Road, Santa Maria
    Open Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 4, from 8 am to 7 pm
    It provides comfort from heat and smoke. N95 masks and bottled water are available in bottles and fire on site.
  • Wadi Koyama Family Resources Center4689 Highway 166, New Qayama
    Open Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 4, from 8 am to 4 pm
    It provides the same services as mentioned above.

    • Large animals can be transferred to Alex Rodio, 4040 Highway 101, Santa Maria (Enter through the Mourningside Drive 2).
