Micah Parsons may finally have run out of patience with the Dallas Cowboys and is reportedly ready to make significant decisions ahead of the new NFL season. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has dragged out the contract negotiations, seemingly to nobody’s benefit, and has controversially taken shots at both the player and his agent during the offseason.
Parsons is said to be considering “drastic measures,” and Jones may be about to lose all control of the situation.
Micah Parsons Reportedly Considering Trade Request as Negotiations with Cowboys Halted
While several big-name edge rushers have received lucrative new contracts this offseason, Parsons has patiently awaited his turn. The player has participated fully in mandatory team activities during the summer, expressing his belief that his situation will be sorted out in time.
However, according to a recent article from The New York Times, written by NFL insider Dianna Russini, Parsons’ patience has run out. In the article, Russini writes that the two sides are not currently negotiating, and that the player’s relationship with the team is at breaking point.
“The relationship between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys has deteriorated to the point where the star pass rusher is considering drastic measures, which could include a trade request or even a declaration that he is severing his relationship with the team, according to a league source familiar with the situation.”

“The two sides remain far apart heading into the second week of training camp and are not currently negotiating.”
Jerry Jones Negotiated Directly With Parsons, Without the Player’s Agent
According to Russini, the Cowboys were left upset after Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, intervened in negotiations that the team deemed concluded.
The article states that Jones had negotiated directly with Parsons and that the team believed they had an agreement with their star player. Mulugheta is then said to have gotten involved and attempted to renegotiate the deal.
“Among the key issues: Parsons negotiated directly with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones over multiple days in the spring, and the team believed it had a deal, multiple league sources said.
“When Parsons’ agent pushed back and attempted to negotiate further, the Cowboys declined to engage with him and told the pass rusher to honor the agreement he had made.”
Parsons and Jones traded indirect jabs earlier in the offseason, after the owner belittled the player’s agent and his relevance in the negotiations. Parsons fired back, claiming that no deal would be made without the presence of Mulugheta.
With the situation threatening to boil over, Cowboys fans will be nervously awaiting updates regarding their prized defensive star.
