2025 Texas Longhorns football preview: The secondary looks to take another step forward

Austin – Texas coach Steve Sarkissian spoke about the “additional growth” by the Longhorns defense as a whole throughout his term, and perhaps the best example was the defense of the team’s pass last season.

The largest part of that was to improve the defender of the primary passes in the secondary, and while the Gim Thorp award -winning Parron was 2024 in the US Football Association, the defensive field will be the Longwerses again this season.

Rabit by the great safety Michael Taf, who started in Texas walking, and made his way to discrimination in all of America last season, and the high school was vital in making Longhorns one of the best teams against the pass in 2024. They were one of three teams from FBS to allow less than 10 to touch a pass for this season, which allowed nine with Florida International and Kentucky.

With the amount of experienced players and depth, the expectations of the pass does not simply repeat these statistics, but to make another big leap, high.

Taaffe, along with Malik Muhammad and Jaylon Guilbeau, as the veteran heart. Combined trio for 172 treatment and 21 pass passes last season, and Tawfad is the unit indisputable leader. Sarkissian said his way “maybe the most wonderful story in the team at the present time.” TAAFFE had a grant to go to other schools in the wake of the star high school days with Westlake Chaparrarals, but he seized an opportunity to walk in Texas. Things did for him.

“All he did is to work hard. He did not put a roof on himself,” said Sarkissian. “I think he was on his mind, he was always expected to be an American safety at the University of Texas as a leader who represents us in the days of SEC. I think this is what this man thinks, and this is what is wireless.”

Gilani McDonald, Derik Williams and Cuban Black Warne Roberson should get a lot of time, and during spring practices, Sarkissian was particularly happy with Roberson’s progress, who appeared in all 16 matches last season as a red student.

“It had an impact on us on special teams here, but we have now started to see its value on the defensive side of the ball,” said Sarkissian of Roberson.

Jonah Williams, a 5 -star Galveston Ball, should be an exciting player to see. His speed and sporting games with the baseball team in Longorn after registration in the school year in the spring, and now the fans will get his vision on the network. According to 247sports, Williams is the highest safety and player number 6 in the country for the 2025 category.

Gordon Johnson Rubil, Kazavier Felseeem and Mac boiler, should be treated in the rotation, and the transfer of Sarkissian Ryan Neptel-another time-to help fill. It was also the basic pillar in special teams.

As a whole, Sarkissian said this is the most depth he had at all to defense, and the secondary may be the most representative. He and the defensive coordinator like a Kuwaiti house to recycle defensive players to keep new legs in the field as much as possible, and they should not have any problems in doing this.
