“This house will not be the same without them because one of them was the leader and the other is the joy,” said Carlos Guterres Zapata, brother of Zabata Ramirez.
Zabata says that after losing his mother, his sister interfered to monitor the entire family and take care of her.
Zapata Ramirez describes as a diligent mother, love, care, and dedicated who had great dreams for her children.
Zapata Ramirez says that his wife was heading to the home that morning at the end of her Nuba, which delivered newspapers. When his text messages did not respond, he went to search for it and discovered the destroyer.
He said: “When I got to one of the last sites where she would present papers, I saw the accident. I saw her car and knew immediately that it was.”
The family finds strength in the love and support they have always shown each other. One of the children of Zapata Ramirez remembered her last words with their mother, “I love you.”
“She was always for me, it is difficult not to see her again,” said Valnia’s daughter.
Another child, Laura, said: “I was crying, saying that my mother had died. I didn’t believe it.”
The family says they want more stringent laws against speed and street race, so another family does not have to carry this type of heartbreak.
“We ask the authorities to be more strict. At that time of the night, no one belongs to anyone. I have seen cars blowing through the red lights,” said Zabata Ramirez’s husband.
Carcamo-MEZA will be represented in the Arapahoe district court on Tuesday, July 29.
