Suspect at large after University of New Mexico dorm shooting leaves 1 dead

Albukirk, NM (AP) – Another person died and another wound died after the shooting early Friday in a Niger Mixiko University hall that prompted the evacuation of hundreds of students and searched at the campus level for the suspect.

University officials raised shelter in place late on Friday afternoon, saying that there is still an active investigation and that the main campus in the Bokirk will remain closed. They said that students are allowed to eat in the food hall and return to their homes, but they should avoid the crime scene.

Throughout most of the day, the authorities had the area surrounding the Housing Complex for students, which were cordoned off with a yellow tape, where the police prevented the roads and gathered investigators.

The Leftan Tim Deljado of the New Mexico University Police Department said that the two people who opened fire were inside a residence building where they were visiting a student, but they were not students themselves.

The suspect as a whole remained as of early evening, and it was not known whether this person was still on campus. The authorities have not yet issued a description of the suspect or provided other details about who was filmed.

The police had been postponed parts of the campus earlier in the day.

“We had a directive for students, so there were 400 children in students’ homes, so we wanted to make sure they were safe,” said Deljado.

Officials issued a preliminary alert before 3:30 am, when gunfire occurred. The campus police arrived at the Casas del Rio Housing Center to find two people with wounds-one of whom is dead and the other has life-threatening wounds. Another alert was sent asking people to mention in place after 6 am

Mickey Beck, who was staying in students’ housing this week as part of the new students, said he heard gunshots overnight and saw what appears to be a injured person hiding in some shrubs. He said that two other people jumped from the sleep window and ran.

Beck said he was excited to start his first year, but the accident was concerned. “It is really superficial here,” he said.

Not far from the housing, a group of university buses for students waited at the level, and many of them carry backpacks and withdraw the small luggage carts in America. A spokesman for cinnamon Blair said in a statement sent via the email that the university was running a “tactical evacuation”. People were told not to move without guidance from the campus police.

The university includes in the center of the Bokirk about 23,000 students during the school year. New students like Beck visits as part of scheduled trends before the fall season, which begins in about three weeks.

The President of the University, Garnet Stock, said in a letter to the campus community that the existence of the growing law enforcement on the campus and around the coming days was planned.

“We understand that this incident may be particularly sad for new students and their families here this week to go,” Garnet wrote.

The largest city in New Mexico has struggled with violent crimes in recent years, especially among events. Provincial lawyer, Sam Pragman, who nominates the democratic nomination of the ruler, called on the state’s applicants to make more effort to address what he describes as a crisis.

The legislative work call comes amid violence in New Mexico, including young suspects, including deadly strikes in Boucracic and fire in Las Crosses in March, killed three and wounded 15 others.

General prosecutors, law enforcement and Republican legislators pressed the governor of Democrat Michel Logan Grisham to hold a special legislative session to address the problem of the state crime. Despite the expression of its disappointment from the legislative body controlled by democracy at the end of the last session, the ruler did not provide modern indicators that she will return to legislators to Santa V.
