'I'll never stop talking about it': CDOT launches bike safety campaign

Denver (KDVR) – Signs can be seen all over Washington Park, all of which were developed as part of the new safety campaign in the Ministry of Transport in Colorado. 79 people have tragicly lost their lives in cycling accidents in Colorado since 2020, with eight already this year.

You can see the signature of the woman, who lost her husband while he was on a journey, and a reminder of the reality of these accidents.

“I think, sometimes numb, if it is permissible to speak, to the numbers and the large amount of numbers. Some of these signs that you see speak directly to that, and the number of people who lost us.”

Terry Vogel went out to Washington Park on the memory of her husband. He was riding his bike when a driver hit him in 2019. One of the 20 bicycle passengers who were killed that year.

But it is more than just a number.

“I will never stop. I will never stop talking about it. I will never stop defending it because it is still a situation. I think society has become very satisfied,” said Vogel.

CDT reminds drivers of recent laws that have been recently approved, including three -feet -length law, which requires drivers to give cyclists three feet of road space.

Safety stop law, which allows bikers to address stopping signs and red lights as signs of return, as long as the intersection is clear. Something cdot wants drivers everywhere to consider.

“I really think we can do a lot in protecting cyclists in the country by both drivers and cyclists themselves who understand the laws, these laws save lives. They do a lot of good to protect bicycle passengers,” said CDOT spokesman.

Today, at this event they were doing what they could to defend those who could not themselves.

“He never wanted reputation or interest, but he wanted the good to come. So he was so. But he has no choice now because I am a voice for him. I only think that goodness needs to be placed in the world,” said Vogel.
