Victim of fiery Aurora crash recovering in hospital, hopes safety changes are made

Aurora, Colorado (KDVR) – The driver of the car that was affected by a car of nearly 100 miles per hour in Aurora spoke Monday evening from her hospital bed, saying that she wanted to see people dilute gas in this intersection.

Erma Herrera, 63, says she did not see anything outside the ordinary when she came through the intersection at Alameeda Parkway and Buckley Road on Monday. In fact, she says she has no idea how she ended in the Uorra Medical Center.

“I saw the green light and then woke up in the emergency room,” Herrera said.

She was unaware of Tesla that the police say she was driving 97 miles per hour in a 40 miles area that had been shattered.

“People had to tell me about what happened because I did not remember,” Herrera said.

In the car with her, they were five other people: her daughter and grandchildren. Herrera absorbed the worst effect.

“I have a broken ankle. I had a bleeding in my mind, two different places.”

Bruises from her knees to her face, she could not stand since the accident. But she was grateful that she was instead of her family.

“I felt comfortable,” she said. “Very comfortable.”

Herrera said she is leading to the intersection often.

“There is always a wreck. Every day there is a debris,” heera said. “He didn’t think it would be me.”

She says she sees speeds almost always.

“It is very easy to overcome the gas because there is no lights,” Herrera said. “It is just an open road, do you know?”

It hopes that this debris will lead to change.

“I think it may have a kind of caution lamps, and the lights stopped,” Herrera said.

Although her way to recover is scheduled to be long, she is at least grateful.

“This is a great miracle,” Herrera said. “I know that the Lord has his hands on me and my family.”

Herrera said after she was staying in the hospital, she will be transferred to the rehabilitation facility, where she hopes that she can return to her feet again. Her daughter has created GofundMe to help medical costs, What you can find here.
