The Bucs are set to play their 50th season as an NFL franchise in 2025, and the team has plenty in store for fans to celebrate a milestone year for football in Tampa Bay. Tuesday’s unveiling of the 1976 throwback uniforms was just the latest example of how the franchise plans to honor its roots this season.
Buccaneer fans won’t have to wait long to see those phenomenal throwbacks, as the team will wear them for its “50th Season Game,” which is its Week 3 home opener against the New York Jets. Although Tampa Bay starts its 50th season with two games on the road, that might feel like the true start of the 50 seasons celebration.
Of course, we’ve already done some content in celebration of the Bucs’ 50th season here at Pewter Report this summer. That includes the drafting of our Bucs all-time teams, as well as the unveiling of Pewter Report’s Top 50 Bucs of all time, which is a series that has continued most recently with players 16-20.

Not only that, but we also have a new Throwback Thursday-type series covering 50 memorable games in Bucs history. Over on the PewterReportTV YouTube channel, Pewter Report’s Bailey Adams is journeying through some of the most iconic games, moments and performances in franchise history. This is a chronological journey began back on July 3, and now we’re on to Part 3 of this 10-part series that leads all the way up to the first Thursday in September.
Last week, we covered games 6-10, which fell between 1989 and 1998. The series rolls on this week with the next five games, and this is where the list gets a bit more condensed, as we pick back up in 1998 and get into the 2000 season. Considering this was the first golden era of football in Tampa Bay, it should be no surprise that it’ll take a couple of weeks to get through the most memorable games and moments of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
