Denver (KDVR) – Officials of the Ministry of Transport at Colorado adolescents and their parents warn to practice safe leadership after a number of teenage deaths during the weekend.
CDOT says the speed is one of the biggest factors contributing to accidents. Nearly a third of the deadly accidents involved speed, and the lack of a seat belt was also anxious. Teenagers have the lowest use of a seat belt than any age group to drive.
A sad fact has become increasingly common.
Although there is a slight decrease in the year 2024 of the record year in 2023, Skiller McKinley with AAA says parents need to talk to their children about safety behind the wheel.
“As adults, we have to put expectations for teenager. So when you see a dangerous behavior behind the wheel, whether he is a teenager in your family, whether he is a friend of you, he calls him,” McKinley said.
According to state data, in July, two young men were killed in accidents. Both are suspected of suffering from weakness. An accident last weekend was disrupted when he was driving his car with three other teenagers. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to the hospital.
The Colorado State patrol says that the car came out of the road on a curve, killing the driver.
“Whether it is through cannabis, alcohol or other materials, and does not connect your seat belt. These are all options we can make. Most of the accidents are a job for us to make the wrong decision,” McKinley said.

McKinley said: “If you send a text message and lead, your teenager will do.
Last year, The state legislative council approved a new law that added requirements for adolescents to obtain their license, which includes 30 hours of training, and the driver must have the learner’s permit for a period of at least a year before obtaining his full license. These changes apply in 2027.
