Burnet, Texas (KXAN) – More than a week has passed since the destroyed floods struck the Burnett County, and some have made progress in cleaning and rebuilding the remainder.
Heather Kokindolver is the owner of Pufford Place – a living center with the help of the elderly. Kokindolver and her family live directly from Pufford Bliss, and when the floods were hit, both the house and the attachment were damaged.
Cocindolver said that she and her family climbed over the ceiling to avoid washing her in the flood. They stayed there for more than three hours.
“We were able to get everyone-all of us and four of us and our dogs-to this ceiling,” said Kokindolver.
While you are there, Cocindolver said they could not do much, but watching Pufford Bliss is overwhelmed by water. The first respondents eventually came to help – but they were unable to reach everyone.
“There were eight people there and managed to save my seven – it was one who did not come out,” said Cookingolver.
Earneset Lee Brizendine, who went by Mr. Lee, was twenty -five years old. Cocindolver said that Mr. Lee moved within approximately eight weeks and was loved by everyone.
“After we lost him that his family had come to me and said,” I have not seen him happy for several years. “
Since the flood, Cocindolver said it was grateful to support members of society. Her husband, Brian, lost his wheelchair in floods, but through an oral word, he got one new.
Cokendolpher said they have made good progress, but they are still a long way to go to rebuild Pafford Place to what it was.
“It is our goal despite always caring for the elderly,” said Kokindolver.
