Toni Cornell, daughter of the late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell, has paid tribute to the late Brian Wilson with a moving cover of The Beach Boys’ classic “God Only Knows.”
In the studio recording, Cornell’s tender vocals rise above the minimalist backing of acoustic guitar and tambourine. Listen to the track below.
“For Brian Wilson,” the 20-year-old singer wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. “Thank you for writing one of the most beautiful songs ever.”
News of Wilson’s passing at the age of 82 was announced by his children on June 11th. Tributes poured in from musicians around the world, including from his bandmates Mike Love and Al Jardine, as well as Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen.

Cornell’s cover of “God Only Knows” follows Sting’s own rendition of the song, and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong also unearthed a previously unreleased take on “I Get Around.”
Back in November, Cornell released her debut single, “Sunset of Your Love.” She’s since followed up with “Little Bitch,” which dropped in late May.
