After Świątek’s win over Samsonova, her coach Wim Fissette’s wife Jasmien Clijsner shared a picture from her watch session with the couple’s two kids. Both the young fans were seen jumping in excitement as they replicated exact same victory pose from the Polish WTA star. Along with the picture, Fissette’s wife also added a caption that read:

“Jazdaaaaaa!! Into the semifinals.”

Iga Świątek started working with Belgian coach Wim Fissette in October 2024 after ending her longtime partnership with Tomasz Wiktorowski.

The Pole has won the French Open four times and the US Open once in 2022, but grass courts have been relatively more difficult for her. Her best Wimbledon result before 2025 was reaching the quarterfinals in 2023.

Iga Świątek Unveils How She Defeated Liudmila Samsonova Despite a Shaky Start

Iga Świątek’s post-match statement included a direct confession about how she managed to surpass the challenge against Samsonova despite an uneven start to the match. After having already committed two double faults, the five-time Grand Slam champion took control, eventually landing the win in her favor.

“Even though the beginning was pretty shaky with the double faults, I managed to play well and solid. I’m hoping she’s going to have a good recovery and a fast one,” she said.

“It’s never easy to keep your focus. I know that sometimes when I wasn’t feeling well that I’d just let go of everything and it gives you a boost. I just tried to be ready for everything.”

The upcoming semifinal will mark Świątek’s fifth encounter with Bencic, with the Pole leading their head-to-head 3-1. The last meeting between the two also came at Wimbledon, when they clashed in the fourth round, and Świątek came back from a set down to win 6-7(4), 7-6(2), 6-3.

Whoever comes out on top, will face either World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka or 13th seed Amanda Anisimova in Saturday’s Wimbledon final. If Świątek wins, she will become the first Polish player to reach the final of the grass-court Major since Agnieszka Radwańska in 2012.
