Grigor Dimitrov’s girlfriend, Eiza González, expressed her support in an emotional message after the Bulgarian was forced to retire from his fourth-round match at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships due to a right pectoral muscle injury.
Dimitrov and González were first seen together in April during the 2025 Madrid Open, and they officially confirmed their relationship in May when González celebrated the former World No. 3’s birthday with a heartfelt post on social media.

At the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, Dimitrov entered the tournament as the 19th seed. He began his campaign with a convincing victory over Yoshihito Nishioka, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. He then triumphed over Corentin Moutet with a score of 7-5, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, and followed that with victory against Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(0) in the second and third rounds, respectively.
In the fourth round, Dimitrov faced the top seed, Jannik Sinner, and initially dominated the match, taking the first two sets 6-3 and 7-5. However, disaster struck in the third set when, at 2-2, he suddenly clutched his right pectoral muscle and fell.
After taking a medical timeout, Dimitrov ultimately had to retire from the match, with the score standing at 6-3, 7-5, 2-2 (retd.), due to the injury.
In the wake of his retirement, Dimitrov’s girlfriend, González, took to social media to share an emotional message of support for the Bulgarian, stating:

But watching you today alongside the world was a reminder of who YOU are. You’re a winner. We all saw it. And you’ll do it again. I love you @grigordimitrov,” González captioned her Instagram story.

After securing his spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Wimbledon Championships due to Dimitrov’s retirement from their fourth-round match because of injury, Sinner is set to face the 10th seed, Ben Shelton.
Shelton began his campaign at the London Major by defeating qualifier Alex Bolt 6-4, 7-6(1), 7-6(4). He eliminated Rinky Hijikata 6-2, 7-5, 6-4, and overcame lucky loser Márton Fucsovics 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-2 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Most recently, the World No. 10 secured a victory against Lorenzo Sonego in the fourth round, winning 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(1), 7-5 to advance to the quarterfinals, where he will go up against Sinner.
The World No. 1, meanwhile, secured straight-sets victories against Luca Nardi (6-4, 6-3, 6-0), Aleksandar Vukic (6-1, 6-1, 6-3), and Pedro Martinez (6-1, 6-3, 6-1) en route.
Sinner and Shelton have faced each other six times on the ATP Tour, with the World No. 1 emerging victorious in five of those encounters. Their most recent clash took place in the semifinals of the 2025 Australian Open, where Sinner triumphed with a score of 7-6(2), 6-2, 6-2. He then beat Alexander Zverev in the final to defend his title, clinching his second Melbourne Major and his third Grand Slam title overall.
The winner of the quarterfinal match between Sinner and Shelton at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships will advance to face either sixth seed Novak Djokovic or 22nd seed Flavio Cobolli in the semifinals.
