The Los Angeles Times reported that a 71 -year -old Los Angeles citizen, a long -term political advisor, wonders whether Obama’s shirt in his hand in his packed luggage may be the reason for his detention by American customs and border protection after returning from leave abroad.
Rick Taylor, who worked in the campaigns of local and state politicians, including Senator Alex Badilla and supervisor of Los Angeles County, Zev Yaroslavsky, returned from a trip to Tars and Kaikos with his wife and daughter when he was marked by C and held for about an hour.
The 71 -year -old said The Times It was “frightening” even with the knowledge of the system and relations with officials within the government.
After the US Airways flight in Miami was exhausted, each family took different lines through customs.
After the agent who spoke to Taylor confirmed that he was from Los Angeles, an orange poster was placed on his luggage, and he ordered a green line that led him to another CBP agent and then a room full of mostly Latin people who speak Spanish.
He described the lack of a “scary” detention call, although his mobile phone was not confiscated and was able to send updates to his family.
According to the Times, the political advisor, who is currently working in the campaign to re -elect the Los Angeles Tercy Park, was more concerned about his wife, the American citizen born in Vietnam.
Everyone and his daughter has a global entry, something not Taylor, and he has no problems with cleansing customs.
After about 45 minutes in the Holding Chamber, his agent asked for inspection, and he was released shortly after.
A CBP spokesman in Florida told the Times in a statement that the 71 -year -old can file a complaint on the agency’s website.
This incident comes at a time when Los Angeles is still a target for the Ministry of Internal Security, where Federal agents with immigration and enforcement of customs, and the Republican Party and other federal agencies, perform immigration enforcement throughout the region.
“I have no idea about a targeting reason,” said Taylor, who admitted that he thinks about international travel while this administration remains in power. “They are not talking to you. They do not give you a reason. I have left just confusion, angry and anxious.”
