Austin – with thousands of Texas preparing to spend the fourth weekend of July, the first respondents are also preparing.
“We are sure to see an increase in the volume of calls,” said Captain Krista Stedman of Austin Travis Province in Austin Travis Province.
Regardless of the call, there will be ATCEMs to help in the stretman. Following a pre -emptive safety approach can make a big difference, especially if you are heading to water.
“People who are not powerful swimmers should be worn. If you are with a group, there should be someone who has been assigned as a water observer, especially if you are with a group of children,” Stedm said.
Although the temperatures will not be hot as in the past years, Stedman still says that you must moisturize them and try to keep calm if you plan to be outside all day.
“You can still try the heat -related disease while you are in water,” Stedman said.
ATCEMs takes a proactive approach as well. They use drones to monitor big events.
“It gives us the vision of the bird’s eye for the crowd, and in this way when something happens inside the crowd, we can easily determine where these people are and we can direct our respondents,” Stedman said.
Stedman says some simple safety steps can make the fourth weekend of July good.
