The sudden force in Osurio hit his head on the ocean bottom and his family said that he suffered from “a spinal cord that changes life and who changed his world in a moment.”
On Wednesday night, he is still in hospital and community members meet to support his recovery.
Sean Nolan, CEO of the Los Aquatex, has been a coach of Walo in Osurio for many years.
“It is a tragic thing,” said Nolan. “You have a child who grew up in society and takes a commitment to water games. We have a couple of children here who were young guards and talked about what is a great coach, always positive and smiling.”
Osurio started working as Sol Beach goalkeeper in June 2023. A graduate of Los Olamus High School, was planning to start the school at the University of California, Los Angeles in the fall.
His friends and family said that they hope to see him on the campus soon and return to water, whatever rehabilitation of it may take.
“I know this is a long way, but I know that this is what everyone wants,” said Nolan. “They want to see him enjoying water, which is something he loves.”
