CDOT to assist CSP, 51 agencies for 4th of July DUI enforcement period

Denver (KDVR) – The Ministry of Transport in Colorado State will support the state of Colorado and 51 local law enforcement agencies for “Heat IS on July 4,” according to a CDOT press statement on Tuesday.

CDOT said that the enforcement period will start on July 2 and end on July 7.

Travelers may see saturation patrols, sober inspection points and additional law enforcement employees in the service.

The period of enforcement of the only identity document is used to combat “100 bloody days of summer”, which is the time between the day of the anniversary and the day of workers, when he sees law enforcement in Colorado a noticeable increase in traffic deaths.

CDOT said that within a hundred days, one in one of three deaths includes a weak driver.

In 2024, in July the largest traffic deaths were 28, from any month for the whole year. Since 2019, July was in the first three places for the highest months in incidents that involve weakness, according to CDOT.

There were 82 deaths associated with driving in 2025 so far, a 15 % decrease from the same point in 2024.

“Avoid seeing the red and blue lights in the rear vision mirror this weekend. Put a plan in your fourth July celebrations and avoid poor leadership at any cost,” said Colonel Matthew C. Bakard, President of CSP. “The only identity or disruption of driving is to change life. Never expose yourself or others to danger.”

CDOT said that if you are planning to host a weekend party on July 4, follow the steps, including:

  • Collect your guest cars upon arrival. Encourage them to appoint a sober driver or use a ride sharing service, taxi or public transportation
  • Call a friend or family member to a guest if they drink or give them a place to stay if the sober is not available to the house
  • Stop offering alcohol at least two hours before the party ends. Provide a lot of food and non -alcoholic drink options
  • Be steady if the guest is drunk and plans to drive the car to the house. Explain that you are interested in their safety and you cannot allow them to go behind the wheel
  • Remember that as a host, you can be responsible if a guest has served alcohol to crash into a crash

“The weak leadership is not only illegal and can lead to the only identity document, but it can also be fatal,” said Daril Lingk, director of the CDT transport office at CDOT. “Since 2019, 31 people have been killed in accidents that include weak drivers during the Independence Day vacation period. He gave priority to safety on the fourth weekend of July and put the keys if you drink. You can save life – including.”

CDOT has a partnership with the Wilhit Law Office, which provides payment credits for Ubt and Lyft as part of the company Rideshare vacation program. The program will cover a total of $ 20 to ride in one direction from July 3 to July 6.

Dui enforcement period in the summer in the summer witnessed 236 arrests through 82 participating agencies.
