Three actors have emerged as Amazon’s top choices to play James Bond.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Dune and Arrival’s Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond movie for Amazon MGM Studios. The news comes after the studio gained full creative control over the franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson.
Who could star as James Bond in Denis Villeneuve’s new movie?
According to Variety, there are now three actors who are believed to be at “the top of [Amazon MGM Studios’] list” when it comes to casting Bond: Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson.
There’s been no formal casting announcement, meaning none of these actors have formally signed on to play Bond at this time.
Holland is arguably the biggest name of the three, as he’s known for playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’ll soon be seen in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which hits theaters next summer.
Elordi plays Nate Jacobs on HBO’s Euphoria, while he stars as Noah Flynn in The Kissing Booth franchise. His filmography also includes 2023’s Priscilla, 2023’s Saltburn, and 2024’s On Swift Horses, while Elordi’s upcoming projects include Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, and Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights.
Finally, Dickinson is about to play John Lennon in Sam Mendes’ Beatles movies. He has been in movies such as 2019’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, 2022’s Triangle of Sadness, 2023’s The Iron Claw, 2024’s Babygirl, and more.
Villeneuve has only signed on to direct one Bond movie at this time, and it was recently announced that he won’t have the final cut on the project. There is the possibility that the movie is a huge hit, and he returns to work on future Bond projects. He’s also planning to film Dune: Messiah later this year, which is expected to have a December 2026 release date.
Villeneuve’s Bond movie likely won’t arrive until 2026 as “anything sooner would be impossible to pull off, given the film’s scale, sources say.”
