Two years ago, the series “Quarterback” premiered on Netflix, becoming an instant hit thanks to the level of detail and behind-the-scenes access it provided into the lives of its featured players.
That season followed Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota throughout their NFL campaigns, produced by Omaha Productions.
The second season will spotlight Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Cousins once again, and expectations are high. Fans are already speculating about who they’d like to see featured in a future season focused on the upcoming NFL year.
A former NFL player recently weighed in, naming a quarterback who is not necessarily a fan-favorite but who would bring a compelling storyline to the series.
Rashad Jenkins Reveals What QB Would Be the Most Interesting For ‘Quarterback’ Season 3
When the first season of “Quarterback” was announced, fans were thrilled by the idea of getting such deep and entertaining access to NFL players’ perspectives each offseason. The success of that debut season even led to a 2024 spin-off focusing on wide receivers, which was also well-received by the audience.
In 2025, the series returns to its quarterback roots, arguably the most compelling position in American sports, sparking conversations about which players could be featured in future seasons. Former NFL running back Rashad Jennings suggested that Caleb Williams, the Chicago Bears’ rookie quarterback, would be one of the most fascinating storylines to follow this year.

“I want to see Caleb Williams. He’s gonna give a little bit of everything, right? Think about this, allegedly he’s watching film by himself, no structure, he’s a lone wolf, allegedly, right? Then you think about he’s a first-round first overall draft pick, oh, that’s the drama and he went to a beautiful situation that doesn’t happen. But his successor Jayden Daniels outplayed him. The drama… What’s gonna happen this year?” Jennings said.
Williams’ name made headlines when reports surfaced that he was supposedly forced to watch tape on his own with the Bears, and that he did not want to be drafted by the franchise, going as far as considering staying in college.
His father even claimed that quarterbacks go to Chicago “to die,” which might explain moments when Williams looked overwhelmed last season. Jayden Daniels, who was the No. 2 overall pick in the same draft, outplayed Williams in their first head-to-head matchup in Week 8 of the 2024 season. Daniels completed 21-of-38 passes for 326 yards and a touchdown, while Williams completed 10-of-24 for 131 yards.
Getting a behind-the-scenes look at how Williams adjusts to this new reality, with Ben Johnson now leading the team and expectations rising, would offer a compelling narrative.
Johnson was the biggest coaching hire of the 2025 offseason for the Bears, and expectations are high for him to improve the team. With a more competitive roster in place, Williams has a better chance to grow as a player, making his journey one of the most intriguing stories fans could watch unfold in 2025.
The new season of “Quarterback” premieres July 8 on Netflix. The main storylines will follow Burrow’s perspective on the Bengals’ struggles, Goff’s best year as he led the Detroit Lions to the NFC’s top seed, and Cousins’ road to recovery from an Achilles injury while adjusting to a new team.
