Dozens of activists in society gathered outside the headquarters of the Los Angeles Police Administration in the city center to bomb the administration about what they claim to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement operations.
An enforcement operation on Tuesday morning conducted by federal agents around the East 9Y Street and southern Spring Street pushed protest street outside the police headquarters.
In footage of this incident obtained by KTLA, the residents can be seen confronting LAPD verbally while it seems that federal officers take people to reserve.
“You see videos, and for this reason everyone here”, “Gabriel Coirez Junior, with Contro CSO The crowd, which gathered in front of the department, said. “They have seen the Ice and LAPD video collaborating.”
Ron Guccis, another activist with Union del BarioResidents near the raid said they were going out to defend those detained.
“Guess who protects the kidnappers who were kidnapping our people?” He said. “LAPD officers.”
For its part, Los Angeles Police officials launched a statement Saying that after nine in the morning, the officers responded to the area based on reports of a possible kidnapping in progress.
The officials said: “The initial comments of the call indicate that many individuals were trying to detain people without identifying themselves, which causes anxiety by passers -by.”
The officials also stated that upon the arrival of the officers, the situation escalated, with an increasing crowd, leaking to the street, which creates a “threat to volatile and important public safety” in the crowded city center. This is when additional units were called to help manage the scene.
The officials said: “At one point, a hand -handling woman partially approached and stood near the Los Angeles police officer. After a few minutes, a federal agent approached and took control of the woman,” the officials said. “LAPD did not participate in her detention or arrest.”
However, activists said that the police officers are moving away from the federal immigration process that was a clear sign that LAPD is helping the Ministry of Internal Security and its other agencies to carry out the raids.
“We have to call for the city of the Haram, and the claim of this is a legend and a lie,” said Hamid Khan, with the espionage alliance in LAPD, in the demonstration. “We have to close this contract from sharing information because what it is, is a direct pipeline for deportation.”
Clarifying her position more, a LAPD statement indicated that the officers’ roles were limited to maintaining system and public safety.
“The officers remained at the scene to cancel the tensions. Federal agents did not notify LAPD of their act enforcement in advance. The administration responded based on the initial radio call that reported a possible kidnapping.”
Many activists in the gathering did not buy this, saying that the removal of people who have no documents from the street without the due legal procedures was kidnapped.
“Although there are many people who were kidnapped,” I told the Guashees the crowd, “The situation will be much worse if the resistance is not the organized for people.”
