On Monday, the Braves opened up a four-game series against their NL East rivals, the New York Mets, at Citi Field in Queens, NY. Acuna Jr. delivered a solo shot towards left center against an off-speed pitch by Mets starter Paul Blackburn to give the visitors a 3-0 lead in the series opener.
Laborde, who was sitting inside Citi Field alongside her sons, celebrated her husband’s towering home run by sharing the video of the same on her Instagram story, with a caption that read, “Early birthday gift.”
The video of the home run was shared online by the official Instagram page of Braves Today. The caption on the post read, “VOTE RONALD. It’s the third inning, and Acuna already has a home run, single, and stolen base. Vote for him for the All-Star game.”
Since recovering from the ACL tear that he sustained on his left knee, the 2023 NL MVP has been a man on the ascendancy in both departments of the game. While injuries have plagued the star Venezuelan from showcasing his full potential in recent times, he still possesses match-winning abilities, which is a boon for the Braves.

Acuna Jr. has been showcasing amazing confidence at the plate since coming back from a season-ending injury that he sustained last year. He has a .396 batting average, with nine home runs, 16 RBIs, and a 1.213 OPS in 28 games played this season. The right fielder has amassed a total of 40 hits in 101 at-bats that include five extra-base hits.
He is projected to hit over 15 home runs and register more than 30 RBIs in the current campaign. The resurgent Braves have now climbed up to the third spot in the NL East standings with a 36-41 overall record. They are 7-3 in the last ten games but are still 10.5 games behind the division leaders, the Philadelphia Phillies.
