Former Dolphins Star Drops Bold Prediction About Rams Star Jared Verse’s NFL Future

Five-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Terron Armstead paid a huge compliment to Los Angeles Rams pass rusher Jared Verse in a recent interview with Sirius XM. Armstead put Verse on a list with some of the biggest stars in the league and predicted a massive future for the second-year player.

Terron Armstead Names Jared Verse as His Top Reason for Retiring in Comical Tribute

What appears to have been Armstead’s final year in the NFL coincided with Verse’s first. A third-round pick in 2013, Armstead spent nine years with the New Orleans Saints before finishing his career with the Miami Dolphins.

Asked for his top three reasons for retiring, Armstead started with a comical, yet eye-opening response.

“No. 1: he was a rookie from the Rams,” the former Dolphin paused to shake his head. “That young boy, Jared Verse? I’m cool; I’m good; I’ve never gotta see that man again. I’m okay with that, never seeing that young man again in my life.”

Armstead then lauded Verse’s qualities, before making a bullish claim about the player’s future.

“Bull rush, different. Dog is different; you know that it’s coming, you brace yourself, he’s different; Jared Verse is different. He will be a Defensive Player of the Year one of these days, mark my words.”

The praise directed at Verse was made even more special when Armstead also listed Myles Garrett, Trey Hendrickson, and Maxx Crosby. To already be considered, by a highly-respected 12-year veteran, as one of the best defensive players in the league will no doubt be a huge boost to the young pass rusher.

Verse Terrorized Armstead’s Miami Dolphins in Rookie Year

It’s no wonder Verse made a lasting impression on Armstead. In week nine of his rookie year, Verse recorded two tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble against the Dolphins. The Rams lost that game, but it was yet another example of what 2024’s 19th overall draft pick could do.

Verse went on to win Defensive Rookie of the Year, despite making much less of an impact in the second half of the season. In fact, Verse’s sack and tackles for loss in week nine were his last of the regular season. He did, though, show up against the Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs, tallying two sacks and three tackles for loss in the narrow defeat.

While not threatening to top the charts in sacks, Verse’s presence in opposing backfields was felt throughout the year. His 33 quarterback pressures were tied for 16th in the NFL, while his quarterback hurries were tied for seventh with the aforementioned Crosby.

After such an impressive rookie campaign, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Armstead’s prediction for Verse realized in the not-too-distant future.
