(Kron) – After the recent arrests of San Jose, ICE and Customs enforcement agents (ICE), a city council member announced that the local population is not documented “is being attacked.”
Council member Peter Ortez described the increase in federal immigration as “annoying”. Ortiz sent a memorandum on Friday calling on the city to allocate a million dollars from emergency financing to support and protect immigrant societies and unremitized societies.
The council member said that it is submitting the demand in the midst of the increasing ice fears and the recent opening of a new icy office in southern San Jose.
“Our society is being attacked. Ice has started to increase their presence in our neighborhoods, and families are reduced. These are not abstract newspaper headlines – these are our neighbors, friends and colleagues. The people of San Jose deserve to feel safe in their city,” said Ortz.
The memorandum invites the city council to agree to funding during a final budget hearing on Tuesday, June 10, as a moral response to the “crisis”. One million dollars will provide legal assistance, rapid response services, and communicate with society to ensure that the undocumented population knows their rights and access to assistance.
Ice agents in San Jose on Wednesday. On Tuesday, ICE agents were seen conducting an operation in the Snell Street and Blossom Hill Road.
“We know that the federal government is intensifying enforcement efforts and expanding its ability to detention and deportation. What we saw here in San Jose is likely to be just the beginning,” said Ortz. “We cannot allow our society to search and seize animals.”
On Friday, a spokesman for the US Department of Internal Security told Kron4 that ICE alternatives to the detention program (ATD) and the Mazhar Intensive Supervision Program (ISAP) is present to ensure compliance.

“All illegal foreigners are granted for due legal procedures. Those who were arrested were final orders that can be implemented by a migration judge and did not comply with this matter. If you illegally in the country, the judge asked you to be removed in violence – and by the student to carry out violently – with reporting criminals in violence – we toured our societies.
The Ortiz Memorandum said that immigrants are serving an important role in the cultural, social and economic vitality of Jose.
The San Jose city’s budget hearing will be held on June 10 in the city hall. The general suspension will be open, and the residents are encouraged to attend and speak.
