Austin (KXAN) – The Austin Wateer Perbred Preservation Department is expected to celebrate Thursday.
The prescribed burns play a role in reducing the risk of fires in the wildfire, as well as helping to maintain healthy landscapes and protect societies.
Almost 55 acres between FM 967, FM 1626, FM 2770, FM 150 and W-RRR 150, according to Austin. Smoke may be visible in the area from 10 am to sunset.
“The conduct of the prescribed burns is one of the strategies used to manage these lands and protect the groundwater in central Texas,” said Matt Lor, the Austin Water Windland. “The burns scheduled improve the elasticity of our lands when used as a planned seasonal management tool.”
The city said that a team of highly trained professionals would help ensure safety during the burning.
The city said: “All employees meet with specific training, experience, fitness, and the requirements of the personal protection equipment for the position they perform on the Fireline line.” “The prescription of each fire takes into account the weather conditions – including winds and last rains – and requires specific burning parameters to ensure the achievement of fire behavior goals and can be controlled safely.”
