The Cleveland Browns are in the midst of a quarterback battle as Joe Flacco, Shedeur Sanders, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel are all competing for the starting job with Deshaun Watson expected to miss the entire 2025 season after re-rupturing his Achilles tendon. While Sanders and Gabriel are entering their rookie season, and Pickett has just 25 games of experience as a starter, Flacco is 40 years old.
The first-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft is entering his 18th season in the NFL. He has made 191 career starts, throwing for 45,697 yards, 257 touchdowns, and 162 interceptions, while completing 61.7% of his pass attempts and adding 890 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns on 386 carries.
The Super Bowl 47 MVP is, by far, the oldest player on the Browns roster, as some of his teammates are half his age. Flacco recently weighed in on sharing a locker room with players who are much younger.

Joe Flacco Reveals His Thoughts On Sharing Locker Room With Much Younger Players
Flacco met with the media on Wednesday, where he was asked about sharing a locker room with players who are much younger than him. The Browns quarterback shared his thoughts, stating:
“It’s a lot of fun. I mean, I actually – like, just from experience, I think they tend to get a little bit of a kick out of me just because I am 40 years old now and could be their fathers, probably. And, it’s fun for me, too in the same kind of way. I mean, they’re young and they have a lot of life and a lot of energy and a lot of new things that kind of keep me in the loop with my kids and all those things.
“It’s fun. I mean, everybody in that locker room, it’s like we’re all 25 year old’s just having the time of our lives. And, look, we get to come out here and do this for a living so why wouldn’t we feel that way?”

Flacco will look to break camp as the Browns’ starting quarterback. He has not made at least ten starts in a season since 2017, the year before he lost his starting job with the Baltimore Ravens to Lamar Jackson. While Sanders has the most hype around him of any player in Cleveland’s quarterback room, Flacco’s experience could give him an edge in the ongoing competition.
