Denver (KDVR)-With the day of anniversary at the beginning of the summer, people will soon start enjoying external activities throughout the state, such as rowing or pipes of many state rivers. Since accidents occurred, the difference around the state stands ready to save lives.
Colorado Search and Rescue is a voluntary organization linking all individual search and rescue teams throughout the state, providing resources and education to maintain your safety in water.
“We call this starting gates to the summer,” said Nicole Laathrob from Shafi Search and Rescue Company to the north.
The day of the anniversary during the Labor Day is the most crowded time of the year for her team. With the help of CSAR, Lathrop said they are able to stay ready with additional resources at their disposal.
“Air resources or team members are more to search for someone who lost,” Don Wilson said with CSAR.
Anything the search and rescue team can need.
Lithrop said they encourage anyone heading to rivers to bring appropriate safety equipment and think about using evidence if you are new in the area.
“They will have someone walking in the river to appear to you as there are risks such as refineries or bad slopes that may not be comfortable for them yet,” she said.
When accidents occur, they have a lot of tools available to jump to work.
“You can see the boat behind me, and we have a lot of rope equipment and all of that,” he said.
Including a new CSAR tool, a video series called Trailblazers and Lifesavers.
“To help people learn the safety of rock climbing or fast water without being loved or thrown into their face,” Wilson said.
The basic education that they hope to prevent accidents before they occur, and make this busy season less preoccupied.
“We want to put ourselves out of work,” Wilson said.
You can find these videos on CSAR’s Pages of social media and A website. Since they depend on volunteers, Lathrop also encourages anyone who wants to help check volunteering opportunities with local search and rescue teams.
