American tennis star Tommy Paul is blazing through the 2025 Italian Open draw, but his off-court life has taken a surprising turn, one that his girlfriend, Paige Lorenze, isn’t letting him live down anytime soon.
In a light-hearted jab, Lorenze dubbed her boyfriend “Tommy Repo Paul” after he confessed that his beloved Ford F-150 truck had been repossessed back in Florida.
Tommy Paul Extends Stay With Girlfriend Paige Lorenze in Rome While His Truck Gets Taken Away
Paul, seeded 11th in Rome this year, is enjoying one of the strongest clay-court runs of his career. He’s through to the semifinals for a second consecutive season after toppling a string of high-caliber opponents, including 19th seed Tomáš Macháč, seventh seed Alex de Minaur, and 30th seed Hubert Hurkacz. Despite the success on the court, Paul recently admitted that his week hasn’t been all roses.
During the post-match press conference following his quarterfinal against Hurkacz, the 27-year-old offered an amusing revelation about what’s been stressing him behind the scenes.
“Off court, a little bit of a stressful week,” Paul said. “I got my truck repossessed. I missed a couple payments and they took my truck from my house this week. I’ve been grinding to get my truck back. If you know me, that’s my baby.”
Enter Paige Lorenze, Paul’s girlfriend and lifestyle influencer, who wasted no time turning the situation into a playful moment online. Under Paul’s recent Instagram post celebrating his quarterfinal victory, Lorenze cheekily commented:
“Tommy Repo Paul,” poking fun at his off-court troubles.
She also responded to an individual who left a string of pick-up truck emojis with a reply: “Bye bye truck.”
Tommy Paul Faces Jannik Sinner at Italian Open 2025
Tommy Paul now looks ahead to a blockbuster semifinal clash with top seed Jannik Sinner on May 16. It will be their fifth meeting on the ATP Tour, with the Italian holding an edge with a 3-1 head-to-head record. They last met at the Round of 16 at the 2024 US Open, where Sinner won in straight sets.
Tommy Paul shared his thoughts on his upcoming clash with Jannik Sinner, discussing his mindset heading into the match and acknowledging the impressive level of tennis Sinner has been playing recently.
“Sinner is obviously the No. 1 player in the world, best player in the world. He’s excited to be playing here in Rome, I’m sure. I’ve been watching him play this week. It’s been fun to watch. Doesn’t feel like he’s rusty very much at all,” Paul said.
The winner of the match will face either third seed Carlos Alcaraz or eighth seed Lorenzo Musetti in the final.
