87-year-old Meeker man loses home in Elk fire: 2nd major fire disaster he's survived

Meeker, COLO. (KDVR)-It is an incredible story about the flexibility that comes out of the firefighting area near Meker, where 87-year-old Kydd has survived.

Last week, on August 3, the Al -Ayal fire destroyed his home, decades of escaping from the explosion at a famous hostel near Mickel in 1991.

Bob chose to keep his privacy and did not want to speak on the camera for an interview, but we talked to the neighbors who knew him well. They say that Bob is a quiet and independent man.

The community’s response to its recent loss was the flow of support. A Donation More than 14,000 dollars raised in less than one day.

The loss is overwhelming for a pop. His house, a place of memories and isolation, has now decreased to ruins and ashes.

“The life of Bob in Meeker is somewhat organized,” said neighbor Ryan Wix. “He got his routine and remains on the hill. He is very calm within society. Everyone who knows Bob and knows Bob from a sleeping cat, knows he is a wonderful person.”

Ryan talks about his early memories with Bob.

Ryan said: “Ride my mini -bike to Bob’s house on the hills from the sleeper cat with my brother and my father. We were going there and his bleeding. “I got a lot of meals from him and a lot of honey -filled cakes. Over the years, when Bob was not working, we were very much and spent some time with him on the hill at his home.”

It is known to many, but it is really known by a little.

“Some people are joking that he is a urban legend. Everyone has heard about Bob Kidd, but not everyone knows Bob Kidd,” Ryan’s wife, wife of Ryan said.

It lives about 16 miles from the city.

Ryan said: “I spoke to him earlier today, he wants to reach his place, but his stomach is painful and vision there,” Ryan said. “He hoped that there would be more than there was, but unfortunately, he is very destructive there.”

Ryan and Rashil, with other neighbors, witnessed the fire moving quickly through the hills, leaving only a little time to evacuate.

“(Bob) was a little frightening to leave. I think he originally thought that the fire was extinguished,” Ryan said. “Bob really got out of there. My friend Kevin, along with his daughters, helped to download for safety.

“I would like to say that it was within minutes when the fire arrived,” Ryan recalls. “It was visible and they felt the heat while entering, and they were loaded in the truck. I was there when the hills were burned. I knew that the Pob place had gone at that point. It was a quiet time for Bob and us, and it was certain that it was difficult to see.”

He moved to Bob’s position, neighbors started a way to help him by starting Gofundment.

“It is really difficult to see someone more than 87 years of losing his entire life,” Rachel said. “It was really difficult.”

“I think now that his plans may be suspended in Meker,” said Ryan. “Therefore, I think the future is a little uncertainty about what it looks like. I think enough support, I don’t think anything will feel like at home, but we can do our best.”

This Bob explosion survived the gas explosion in The Sleepy Cat Lodge in 1991. The hostel was destroyed.
